This last Monday, a dear friend to me past away: Pastor Bethuel Dongo.
Pastor Dongo saved my life. I met Pastor Dongo in 2011 when I was visiting Uganda for the first time with my high school, Liberty Christian. Pastor Dongo called me out and said, "I know you by your eyes, I know you by your grandfather." It was on this visit that I yielded to my calling to go into ministry. It wasn't until December 2012 that we did our first Reaction Tour and I accepted the calling full time. Pastor Dongo was there for me every step of the way during our first camp. He has been the Father of two orphanages, God Cares School, as well as a great church, Kabalagala Pentecostal Church, as well as a spiritual father to me.
Pastor Dongo had been fighting Cancer for over a year when they called him, "cancer free" earlier this year upon his return to Uganda. Two weeks ago the cancer began to show up in his system. He was declined a visa to come to the U.S. for treatment so the doctor went to him. Since last Friday, Pastor Dongo had been responding well to the treatment- He even preached this last Sunday morning at his church. It was that evening that he went into a coma and passed early Monday morning (U.S. time).
When I got the call, my heart hurt. The father of thousands had gone to be with The Lord. Knowing that he is at the Right Hand in perfect peace and happiness is the strength holding my head high. I can't wait to see him again one day.
I have made the decision, without hesitation, to dedicate our next Reaction Tour trip to Bethuel Dongo. For The Lord and for Dongo. If it weren't for Pastor Dongo's obedience to The Lord, many would be hopeless and fatherless throughout the nation of Uganda. I am so blessed to have known him the four great years that I did. It was an honor to learn from him and hear his wisdom. I am so thankful to have him by my side, helping me build Reaction Tour into what The Lord desired it to be.
I ask of you, please be praying for Pastor Dongo's family. They have been hurting. Pastor Dongo's wife, Ms. Florence, is an amazing woman. They complemented each other so well. I have never seen hard workers such as them. They have four amazing children as well as the additional twelve that they had adopted. This family will be left with his responsibilities to take care of the 1500+ children within God Cares. I believe for The Lord's grace and supernatural strength to be upon them. I believe for peace and joy to overwhelm them and that they will see The Glory in everything they do.
Please be in agreement that this camp to Uganda will far surpass anything we have done thus far. I know it will.
